The problem it solves

The slow path from analyzer to doctor

In most labs today, results travel through several human hands before reaching the ordering doctor. LIS Middleware removes that bottleneck.

Without Middleware

The manual path

  1. 1.Analyzer prints a result on paper or shows it on screen.
  2. 2.Technician reads the value and types it into HMS by hand.
  3. 3.Another staff member double-checks it.
  4. 4.The doctor waits minutes — sometimes hours.

Slow · error-prone · expensive · hard to audit

With LIS Middleware

The automated path

  1. 1.Analyzer produces a result.
  2. 2.Middleware captures it in 1–2 seconds.
  3. 3.Result is pushed straight into HMS, audit-logged.
  4. 4.Doctor sees the value — instantly.

Fast · zero typos · zero manual entry · fully audited

Core features

Everything you need between analyzer and HMS

A complete middleware layer — machine connectivity, result handling, validation, dashboards, and audit — all in one Windows app.

🔌

Direct analyzer connectivity

Connects Mindray hematology (BC-5000, BC-5150) and chemistry (BS-240, BS-480) analyzers over TCP network or USB/Serial. Multiple machines at the same time, each with its own config.

Results in HMS within seconds

The moment the analyzer produces a result, it’s captured, stored, and pushed to your HMS in 1–2 seconds. Doctors see values before the technician walks back to the desk.

🩺

Zero transcription errors

Every value in the HMS is exactly what the machine reported. No retyping, no typos, no double-checks — the machine speaks directly to the HMS.

📊

Live dashboard

One glance at every connected analyzer — online, offline, last result received, last heartbeat. Abnormal results are flagged the instant they arrive.

Validate, reject, re-sync

Technicians can validate results, reject faulty runs, or re-push to HMS with one click from the Results Viewer. Every action is audit-logged.

📝

Complete audit trail

Every result received, pushed, validated, rejected, or modified is timestamped and logged locally — so you always know who did what, and when.

🖥️

Runs on a standard Windows PC

A single installer on Windows 10/11. Installs in minutes, runs quietly in the background 24/7. Local SQLite database — no server setup, no cloud dependency.

🔒

On-premise & private

Everything stays inside your hospital network. Patient data is stored in an encrypted local database. No internet connection required for normal operation.

Supported analyzers

Built for Mindray instruments

Connect multiple analyzers at the same time. Each machine gets its own configuration — the dashboard shows them all side by side. New analyzers can be added from Settings with no restart.

Model Type Connection
BC-5000 Hematology Network cable (TCP)
BC-5150 Hematology Network cable (TCP)
BS-240 Chemistry TCP or USB/Serial
BS-480 Chemistry TCP or USB/Serial
BS-Series (others) Chemistry TCP or USB/Serial

Need support for a model not listed? Reach out — we add new analyzers regularly.

What you get in the app

Four screens, complete control

The middleware ships with a clean desktop interface designed for lab technicians, not engineers.

📊

Dashboard

Live status of every connected analyzer — online, offline, last result, last heartbeat. One glance tells you if the lab is running smoothly.

🔬

Results Viewer

Every result the lab produces, stored and searchable. Patient details, individual test parameters, abnormal flags. Validate, reject, re-send, or export with one click.

⚙️

Settings

Add, edit, or remove analyzers without touching config files. Change HMS connection details. Switch between dark and light themes. No restart required.

📜

Logs

Live, scrolling log of everything the application is doing — instantly useful for IT staff when something needs troubleshooting.

A typical day in the lab

From sample to doctor, in seconds

No printing, no typing, no phone calls, no lost slips of paper.

  1. Sample loaded

    Technician loads the sample

A patient sample is loaded into the Mindray BC-5000 or BS-series analyzer. Worklist info flows from HMS if linked.

  2. Analyzer runs

    The machine produces a result

The analyzer runs the ordered tests and emits the result over its network or serial interface.

  3. Middleware captures

    LIS Middleware captures & stores

Within 1–2 seconds, the middleware PC receives the result, parses it, and writes it to the local encrypted SQLite database.

  4. Push to HMS

    Result lands in the HMS

The middleware immediately pushes the result to your HMS over the internal network. The ordering doctor sees it on their screen.

  5. Audit trail

    Timestamped & searchable

Every action is logged locally with a timestamp — available for dispute resolution, compliance checks, and internal audits.

How it fits into your lab

FAQ

Common questions

Everything buyers usually ask before rolling LIS Middleware out across their labs.

What is LIS Middleware?
LIS Middleware is a Windows application that connects your laboratory analyzers directly to your OmniWorks HMS. Results produced by the analyzer are captured, stored, and pushed to the HMS automatically — no manual data entry, no paperwork, no transcription errors.
Which lab analyzers does it support?
LIS Middleware supports Mindray hematology analyzers (BC-5000, BC-5150) and Mindray BS-series chemistry analyzers (BS-240, BS-480, and similar models). Analyzers connect over a network cable (TCP) or USB/Serial. You can run multiple analyzers at the same time, each with its own configuration.
Does patient data leave the hospital network?
No. LIS Middleware runs entirely inside your hospital network. Results are stored locally in an encrypted SQLite database on the middleware PC, and HMS communication happens over your internal network only. No internet connection is required for normal operation.
How is it licensed?
LIS Middleware uses per-device licensing — each analyzer you connect is licensed individually, so you only pay for what you actually use. The license is tied to the machine and activated during installation.
What hardware do we need?
A single standard Windows 10/11 PC in the lab, on the same network as your HMS server. The application is lightweight and self-contained — a typical office PC is sufficient. Analyzers connect to this PC via network cable or USB/Serial.
How does it integrate with OmniWorks HMS?
LIS Middleware talks to the HMS over a simple HTTP interface. Results are pushed into the Lab Management module and appear in the patient record, ordering doctor’s queue, and reports automatically. Worklists can flow the other way — HMS → analyzer — so samples are ordered and matched automatically.
